Cosmos Tours is the value-priced sister brand of Globus, a long-established Swiss tour operator. It targets the same broad market as Europamundo: travellers who want a guided multi-country experience without paying premium prices. On paper the two are competitive. In practice, there are real differences worth knowing about before you book.

The pricing is closer than for premium brands

A 10-day Cosmos Italy is typically R28,000 to R38,000 per person sharing. Europamundo for the same itinerary is R22,000 to R32,000. Cosmos is roughly 15 to 25% more expensive at this level, a smaller gap than against Trafalgar or Insight, but still meaningful when multiplied across a family of four.

What Cosmos includes that Europamundo doesn't

Cosmos often includes airport transfers on arrival day. Their dinners are slightly more frequent. Their group size is generally capped at 44, slightly tighter than Europamundo's 50.

What Europamundo includes that Cosmos doesn't

More departures, Cosmos runs fewer dates per year on most routes. Guaranteed departures from very low numbers (Europamundo will run a tour with just two booked passengers; Cosmos has higher minimums). And of course, Rand pricing locked at quote, which Cosmos doesn't offer through most South African channels.

The vibe difference

Cosmos coaches in Europe lean heavily American and Canadian. Europamundo coaches lean international, South Africans, Australians, Indians, Singaporeans, Mexicans, occasionally Europeans. If you're worried about being the only non-American voice on the coach, Europamundo is the easier choice.

Where Cosmos genuinely beats Europamundo

If you want a single-guide-the-whole-way experience (which Europamundo doesn't always offer on bilingual departures) and you don't mind paying 20% more, Cosmos delivers a slightly cleaner Anglo-market experience.

For most South African travellers though, the price gap, the locked Rand price, and the sheer number of departures push the answer back to Europamundo. See our guaranteed departure explainer for how that side of things works.
